Hong Kong is more than just tall buildings, shopping, egg tarts, and Disneyland. I flew to Hong Kong not knowing what to expect, but this country surprised me within my first day.
In my first 24 hours in Hong Kong, I saw two very different sides of the country. I joined a walking tour around the neighborhoods of Kowloon to learn more about the ongoing housing crisis — from 10 sqm subdivided units to cage homes priced at HKD 1,800 (≈ Php 13,586) per month — and later, I admired the breathtaking view of Victoria Harbour’s skyline from the famous Avenue of Stars.
