Raincoat, insect repellent, and sunblock - these are just the basics when it comes to packing for any trip to Southeast Asia. Having visited Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, and our very own Philippines, I’ve put together a packing list that’s tried and tested, and sure to have you covered on your upcoming adventure!

Before getting into the list, it is important to understand what to expect in most parts of Southeast Asia in terms of weather, landscape, and culture.

WEATHER

Most countries in Southeast Asia experience unpredictable weather, with sudden rain showers during the summer or heat waves pushing temperatures above 40°C. It is important to be prepared, especially during peak summer months and the typhoon season.

LANDSCAPE

Most countries in Southeast Asia have a mix of concrete jungles filled with high-rise buildings and rural areas with farms and more traditional lifestyles.

RELIGION

Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity are among the main religions practiced in Southeast Asia. It’s important to research the dominant religion in your destination to avoid any cultural misunderstandings.
